Amputation

After an upper or lower leg amputation, mobility is often reduced due to both balance and circulatory reasons, as well as due to the overload on the other extremity.

EVALUATE AND SET GOALS

Using the Netti Method, you will be able to assess the demands of the user for the wheelchair configuration to create optimal activity of daily living (ADL).

HOW TO SECURE A GOOD SEATING SOLUTION

  • In some cases, the wheelchair base needs to be extended with a frame extension as a compensatory measure for weight loss through the amputated extremity
  • A lower back support height might be needed for optimal arm use when arm propulsion is possible. We offer Ride Java backs in 3 different heights to ensure correct support of the upper body and freedom of the shoulders and arms.
  • An amputation support gives the remaining limb the necessary support.
  • An ad-on drive can give the user a higher level of independency.
  • An anti-decubitus seating cushion should be considered.
