Geriatric users

Geriatric care addresses the diseases and disabilities of elderly people that are often multi-dimensionally limited in health and self-care. There are negative interactions between the body, mind and environment. The diseases can be presented first via a changed appearance and might therefore be difficult to diagnose.

Symptoms

  • Very often muscle force, mobility and balance are reduced
  • Tendency for developing or having a curved back (kyphosis)
  • Joint diseases that limit the activity
  • Reduced cardiopulmonary functions
  • Reduced respiratory functions
  • Incontinence

EVALUATE AND SET GOALS

Using the Netti Method, you will be able to assess the demands of the user for the wheelchair configuration to create optimal activity of daily living (ADL).

HOW TO SECURE A GOOD SEATING SOLUTION

  • The wheelchair needs to be easy to maneuver and intuitive to use.
  • Foot propulsion may be necessary to maintain activity and independency. The Netti III family offer the possibility for low seat heights.
  • The back cushion Netti Super Stabil, with good side supports, secures an upright positioning of the user, which will enable the user to be part of many aspects of everyday life.
  • Focus on anti-decubitus is increasingly important and we recommend the Ride Forward prophylactic cushion or Ride Java decubitus cushion.
  • In case of incontinence, we recommend the wipeable cover Easy Care for the seat cushion.
